GitHub is down, affecting thousands of software developers
GitHub has been down for thousands of software developers this morning. The Microsoft-owned service, which provides version control for Git and hosting software development, has been down for more than an hour. GitHub users have had errors in accessing the service, and some have not even been able to use their integrated development environment (IDE) due to how closely the software is developed with the service.
GitHub says it is investigating the termination“The source of the errors has been identified and is working to restore it.”
GitHub is a large repository of codes that has become very popular with developers and companies that host all projects and code on the service. Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook and many other major technology companies use GitHub. GitHub hosts more than 100 million stores and is supported by 40 million developers.
Microsoft acquired GitHub for $ 7.5 billion back in 2018 and is gradually improving the service for developers. Earlier this year, Microsoft downgraded the price of GitHub to the most popular paid levels and moved the main feature of all its paid apps to its free version.
