Google makes seasonal savings free for all Nest thermostat owners

Google makes it easy for people to save energy this summer by releasing free seasonal savings for everyone Nest thermostat owners. Previously, the feature was only available to seasonal savings utility clients. according to a Google blog post.

Seasonal savings work as an “energy monitor” by making small changes to the schedule to help people automatically conserve energy without noticing the main temperature fluctuations. “By adjusting your schedule every day to just one degree, users save energy while staying comfortable,” wrote Krishna Gupta, head of Criminal Products. “It simply came to our notice then. The average customer sees 3 to 5 percent energy savings in their heating and cooling systems. ”

The company is also working with energy companies, Rush Hour Rewards, to allow thermostat owners to automatically adjust the temperature of their homes during peak energy usage. “When there is a peak in energy demand, it makes energy companies more expensive, less reliable and less environmentally friendly,” Gupta said. “Once you sign up, your nest thermostat will bring some temperature changes to your home during the summer, just like using a few hot energies in the summer. This reduces the demand while keeping you comfortable. ”

The feature will be available to all owners of the United States and Canada’s Nest thermostat (except Quebec) from June. Users will see a notification on their device asking if they want to log in.
