Lenovo Legion 5i review. Few options, few compromises

Lenovo Legion 5i review. Few options, few compromises

Many companies use Intel or AMD’s annual flight of processor generations as an opportunity to completely upgrade their laptops or desktops. Lenovo did not go that far with its 15-inch Legion 5i, but I do not complain much. It’s still an attractive but simple gaming notebook that I think could reach a wider audience than just gamers.

To give you some examples of how visible the high-end changes are to this year’s model, Lenovo has simplified the naming agreement from the clarified Legion Y540. In “Legion” 5, “I” refers to an Intel-based processor. Lenovo also sells the Legion 5 as an option with AMD’s Ryzen 5 և 7 4000 series processors. It also improved the trajectory this year by getting rid of left and right mouse buttons, giving more room for the arrow to rotate. It moved the camera to the top of the display to avoid the nostrils provided by the Y540.

If you are looking for great improvements over the years, you will only find them inside the Leionion 5i. Lenovo brought this car the 10th Gen Intel Core i5 և i7 H series processors, each with a special Nvidia graphics chip. The model sent to us by Lenovo is a high-end model that can be purchased for about $ 1,350 (discounted up to $ 1,289 at launch). It contains 1080p IPS panel with 144Hz refresh rate, Intel hexa-core Core i7-10750H processor, Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card, 16 GB RAM և 1TB NVMe SSD. If you want a laptop that can play most of your games at 60 frames per second without having to add a lot of visuals, this is the only recommended configuration that should be taken seriously.

I do not want to make Legion 5 very happy. The overall package is similar to Lenovo’s $ 989 $ IdeaPad Gaming 3, which I recently reviewed. It can be difficult to separate them if you are standing a few meters away, although the Legion 5i has the clear advantage of having dual RAM եստ storage, with a slightly faster refresh rate on the screen (144Hz to 120Hz). և stronger. RTX 2060. These glasses significantly improve performance, now reviewing the two cars – the $ 350 price increase that these glasses assume seems acceptable, as much as I would like it to offer the RTX 2060 in a cheaper configuration. I would also like Lenovo to be something like this, like the port of Thunderbolt 3, to make the flight more rewarding.

Unfortunately, the RTX 2060 turns it into a great midrange car. If you are confused about the many graphics chips on the market, this is one that you will need if you do not want to do too much gaming with the graphics settings. Unlike my experience with the GTX 1650 IdeaPad Gaming 3 or the Radeon RX 5600M on the Dell G5 15 SE, the graphics card on this laptop required far fewer compromises to run my favorite games, like Control:, with smooth clamp, above 60 frames above. It’s never the strongest GPU in the notebook with a long shot, but it is capable enough to run games of above-average shadow quality և counter-analysis games. These are usually the first parameters that I immediately go all the way to to get a flat, off rate.

Grand Theft Auto V:The brand is obsolete, although it is still a good test for graphic cutlets in laptop design. This machine made its short work with all the parameters (except for the distance textures և shadows), which reached their highest, reaching an average of about 100 frames per second. These և other games I tried to look great on the IPS panel surrounded by thin bezels. The colors are visible, accurate with good viewing angles, and it manages 144Hz fast refresh rate, which does not show any screen cracks or other artifacts. It should be noted that the Legion 5i is one of the few plastic laptops that does not appear when raising or adjusting the screen. Lenovo, a pioneer in the concept of 2-to-1 laptops, is good at making hinges. Who knew?

The guide received a small update here. Instead of having two mouse buttons on the bottom, like the previous Y540 models, it now has two adjacent sheets of smooth plastic. It’s not innovative at all, but it’s nice to have more space. With its Precision drivers, gestures և scroll work as shown in the diagram. Little has changed with the keyboard, although typing is still fun. It’s basically the same as you’ll find on Lenovo’s less expensive IdeaPad Gaming 3, but here the keyboard supports four-band RGB lighting, as opposed to just blue lighting, although you’ll have to pay an extra $ to set it up. 30: Otherwise, you will get a white backlit keyboard.

Outside of games, with 16GB of memory, there’s no problem running my most used apps at the same time without slowing down. My usual workload includes over 20 Microsoft Edge tabs, Spotify, Slack և Affinity Photo for more insight. It’s a shame that most notebook base models, including this one, have 8GB of memory by default. At the very least, allow yourself to refresh it (along with storage) yourself by scraping the bottom.

Lenovo Legion 5i:

The keyboard is full of keystrokes, and all are great for typing. It may feel a little crowded though.

Ingredients are generated at the proper export speed here if you use Adobe Premiere Pro for video production, as it did during gaming, it keeps you relatively cool and cool under stress. It exported 33 seconds of 4K file in 5 minutes faster than real time, in just five minutes և per second. The hardware acceleration of the application uses Nvidia’s CUDA cores, which beat the Dell G5 15 SE for two and a half minutes. In context, this is a few minutes slower than some laptops with the octa-core Intel Core i7-10875H, more RAM and even more powerful GPUs. This is not a bad result, although I would not buy it just for video production.

Transferring large files from this machine is relatively quick, as it has a USB-C 3.1 port տեղադր with a PCIe-based SSD for fast read and write speeds. Speaking of the port, this laptop is scattered to their left, right and back. There is one USB Type-A port on the left and a headphone jack, and one USB Type-A port on the right. Everything else is behind it, including Ethernet, the above-mentioned USB-C port, which unfortunately does not work for charging, two USB Type-A ports, HDMI, electrical outlet with its thin, but still huge 230W brick – horizontal lock hole.

Lenovo Legion 5i:

The Legion 5i is a gaming laptop, but its design is not a dead gift.

According to its credit, the Legion 5i packs a bigger battery with the IdeaPad Gaming 3, despite its size և weight. It is a four-cell 60Wh battery that averages about four hours in a row for several hours in a row while being refined during operation. Given that it empowers more GPUs to display faster աց refresh rates, this is a good fit for a gaming laptop. But if you plan to play games during this time, you will not be without electricity for a long time, so do not leave it behind.

This package is what I wanted IdeaPad Gaming 3 to be. A powerful gaming notebook that does not compromise on visual acuity for fast frame rates. The Legion 5i is far from perfect, though. Its 720p webcam looks awesome, with very little experience (features aside) included in buying a more affordable Lenovo gaming machine. Thunderbolt 3 port և SD card reader would be appreciated. Alas, your main reward here for spending more cash is simply a faster computer, one that is still relatively affordable compared to 15.6-inch computers like Razer և MSI’s competitors.
