The Geneva Motor Show in 2021 has been canceled

The Geneva Motor Show in 2021 was canceled due to the “financial consequences” of this year’s event, the acquisition of an ax, but also concerns about the pace of the COVID-19 epidemic. The basis of the conclusion announced Monday that recently the “majority” of exhibitions said that “they will probably not participate in the publication of 2021, that they prefer to have [the next show] Instead of “2022”. Itself is now on sale.

The Geneva Motor Show was the first major automobile event to be canceled outside of China. Organizers pulled out of the outlet about two weeks earlier this year, before the World Health Organization officially announced the outbreak of COVID-19. It would be the 90th issue of the show, which is often home to the most heated and shocking announcements in the industry. The booking in 2019 attracted more than 600,000 visitors.

The Salon International de l’Automobile Foundation, which represents the fundraising process, has been seeking financial assistance from the local government for months after its cancellation. Geneva Canton has offered a 16.8 million Swiss franc loan (about $ 17.6 million). The foundation was dissatisfied with the terms of the loan, including an exhibition in 2021, and rejected it. The foundation is now trying to sell the rights at the Geneva Motor Show to Palexpo SA, the group that owns and operates the convention center.

All other major car showrooms were either canceled or moved to digital events following the decision to scratch the Geneva Motor Show, and a number of automakers have since had to make their own online revelations in the absence of these large gatherings.
