Facebook Inc. changes the brand to Meta to emphasize the plan of the “metaverse”.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said his company is changing itself to Meta, trying to embrace its vision of virtual reality for the future. Experts note that this also seems to be an attempt to change the subject from Facebook Docs, a collection of documents that showed how Facebook ignored or downplayed internal warnings about the negative and often harmful consequences that its algorithms spread around the world. Zuckerberg insists that the metauniverse – what you might imagine as the three-dimensional Internet – represents the next technological horizon for humanity, and believes that a billion people could be connected to it in a decade.
