Political reporter Lori Geary has spent decades in the media industry spanning local, state, and national campaigns. He joined WSB-TV in 1997, while anchoring for CNN Headline News. Since then, her work has garnered numerous accolades including two Emmy Awards, two Telly Awards, awards from the League of Women Voters, Common Cause Georgia, and more.

These days, Lori is the host and executive producer of Fox 5’s Sunday morning Peach State political gabfest “The Georgia Gang,” and a Panelist on Georgia Public Broadcasting “Political Rewind.”

Before Tuesday’s election, we asked Lori for her Top 5 Something, and she gave us a list of her (determined non -political) favorite people, places, and things.

The Sidelines -I am a mom of a 13-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy who loves sports. You can see me and my husband on the sideline all over the Southeast, because my daughter plays travel soccer at SSA, and my son plays football and baseball at NYO. It’s so much fun to make them happy AND watch them grow when things don’t always go as planned. We’re a lot of Atlanta United fans – we’ve had season tickets since the 2017 inaugural year! Love Josef Martinez!

Sunshine On a Ranney Day -This Roswell-based charity stole my heart nine years ago. I was there as a child, and was board chairwoman for seven years, while Holly and Peter Ranney grew up not in the business of what it is today. The husband-and-wife group continues to change lives as they renovate homes for children with special needs. It’s hard to put into words how you felt when these families saw their strange home change for the first time, knowing that it would ease their daily struggles.

Chastain Park – I live all over Metro Atlanta – from Cobb County to Midtown to Brookhaven and now Sandy Springs, and it’s the best neighborhood! We love to take a walk in the park and hang out with the neighbors. There is a small town feel here in Chastain Park. We look forward to attending more concerts at the Cadence Bank Amphitheater, and enjoy walking to The Chastain to eat or drink. You can’t beat the atmosphere outside, and while I’m a big fan of Horseradish Grille, we love the new vibe.

Grown at Home – If you haven’t been to this gem, you have to go! Kevin and Lisa Clark are amazing people who opened this Memorial Dr restaurant over a decade ago. It’s a simple comfort meal, and appeals to anyone in Atlanta. We love supporting local businesses run by good people.

Holy Innocents‘Episcopal School – Choosing a school is one of the most difficult choices a parent can make. We needed some trying (don’t lie!), But we finally found the perfect home for our two kids. I can never say enough about HIES – the community, parents, teachers, administrators, academics, games, and so on. It really has everything we want in a school, and our kids thrive there.
