Ballistic fabrics were first used during World War II for pilots. They would protect against small splinters and debris (flakes). Today, most safety vests are made with a combination of Kevlar / Nylon. Ballistic fabrics are mainly used in motorcycle jackets and trousers, luggage and small packages. Ballistic nylon has high abrasion resistance and almost no elongation.
