What is a crosshair and how can it help you?

A holding cross, or a consolation cross, as it is sometimes called, is an asymmetrical cross that is made to fit ergonomically in the palm of the hand and is used during prayer. It is believed that the holding cross is based on an old design found in old European chapels. Although the origin of the tradition of holding / comforting the cross is not known, it is believed that it dates back to the early Christians.

Crosses are made of many different types of wood, but in my opinion nothing is more appropriate than a cross made from olive tree pruning of trees that grow in the very region where Jesus was born – in the area around Bethlehem. Olive trees have spread the landscape there since biblical times, where they grow both in terraced groves and on the hills. The oil from the fruit of the olive tree has been used for religious rites since biblical times. Because the olive tree is a protected species in Israel and cannot be felled, all olive tree artifacts are made only by pruning the trees. Olive wood articles are imbued with spirituality and do not require much care because olive oil naturally protects them from corrosion and color changes. Over time, the crosshair will develop its own patina from frequent handling. No two crosses will ever look the same due to the variations in grain on the wood.

Who should have a Holding Cross?

· Anyone who is in a time of struggle or loss and seeking guidance.

· Anyone who needs to find comfort and is looking for comfort.

· All who struggle to hold on to their faith.

· Anyone looking for a companion for their prayers and meditations.

· If you or someone you know is ill just holding on to the cross may be the best way to pray.

A holding cross is the perfect gift to mark most gift occasions such as baptisms, confirmations, birthdays, Easter, Christmas or just to give to someone to say thank you. It is recommended to have a stock of these crosses ready to give to your loved ones in their needs.
