When will the West Highland Terrier or Westi fully grow?

The West Highland White Terrier is an intelligent, loving, active and fun-loving animal. As the author, I am somewhat biased Crazy about Westies. In fact, I’m going to like big dogs until we get a western puppy called Pepper. Now I’m completely won.

He’s a lot of fun, especially when he’s playing football. He is good at dribbling the ball. They are big security dogs (ask my neighbor) and will let the world know that there is any guest coming into the house.

We like to ride in our own Vesti car; Like most dogs I go crazy when he comes out of the lead to take him for a walk. It’s hard to imagine how small he was when he first entered the house. He still chases after our poor cat, even though it recently gave him a swipe, to let him know that she was home before he arrived.

When the western dog is fully grown, it is about 10-11 inches tall for the male breed and slightly smaller for the female. Weight can range from 14 to 20 pounds and can have a lifespan of 15+ years if taken with regular health checks.

As the name suggests, Vesti has its origins in Scotland. It was originally bred for shanty worms but it would be such an excellent companion dog. From my own experience I think it’s still a big dog with a small body. It seemed to me that it seldom backed away from any dog.

Introduce your Vesti puppy to the grooming cycle as soon as possible. If you brush the coat regularly, this will remove the dead hair from the coat. When he is an adult, it is recommended to try to cut his coat every 6 weeks, especially during the hot months.

In general, if you treat him with love and respect, you will have a trusted friend and a great companion. They also need to know that you are the boss (alpha dog). Whatever your reason for getting a western puppy or dog, you need to keep in mind that dogs are animals and not humans. Of course for some owners it is a difficult bridge to cross because their dogs are their children.

By nature dogs are pack animals and there is a leader in every pack and it is called an alpha dog. This alpha dog makes decisions for the whole package and everyone else in the package has a place and knows their place. If you do not take on the role of leader, Westy will usually try and fill the role of this alpha dog. That’s when the problems start.
