Why Celebrate Pastoral Anniversary!

When a church establishes a pastor to oversee the church, there is usually an installation service. An official service that includes the church and senior officials to perform this service. The anniversary of this service is usually one year or so from this date. In this article we will explain why we celebrate Pastoral Anniversary.

When a pastor is installed in a church, he / she swears to care for or oversee the church as a unit. In my opinion, this is the greatest responsibility a human being can accept. He / she assumes the responsibility of nurturing a person’s soul man. As the soul man grows through the teachings of the pastors, the natural man will prosper with knowledge and understanding. This process is like a birthday, every year as you get older, you become wiser and gain more insight into life.

The spiritual aspect of celebrating a pastor’s anniversary should not be seen as a time of giving money and gifts to the pastor. But it is a time when the whole church celebrates what God has given them in the form of a pastor. Every member of the church should be honored to know that he taught the divine principles that make his life better. When your soul grows human, natural man grows and for that reason it is time to celebrate. Celebrate the growing experience with your pastor as he or she is the servant who nourishes your soul. Every year you are proud to know that you are wise, intelligent and that your decision making is better overall.

The natural side of celebrating a pastoral anniversary involves giving physical gifts, money, and honors that deserve to be honored. Every year when we celebrate a birthday many of us will receive a gift or card from someone, there will be something small. You naturally celebrate being one year old, one year wise. The pastor has the same principle behind the anniversary but it has a bigger meaning ahead. There is a spiritual element to celebrating our pastors naturally. We celebrate the pastor’s anniversary spiritually. And we all know that there is a greater blessing than giving. I personally believe that there is a greater blessing than those who bless God’s chosen vessels.

The pastor’s anniversary should be celebrated, not by materialism, but by divine principles. We must allow God to be glorified in everything we do as Christians. We should celebrate them knowing that we are the real beneficiary of the whole affair. God chose them to take care of us and to protect us from all dangers, naturally and spiritually. God gave them the power and the anointing to come against anything that might hinder our journey with Him (our Creator).

If your church or ministry has formally planned this event, I suggest you get a better spiritual meaning. Often as Christians we miss the big picture because we care about the natural element. We dilute our blessings by putting a number or tradition on it. I encourage you to honor your pastor with all your heart, not your wallet. Pray and seek God for how your pastor will be blessed, for there may be other needs besides money and gifts.
